Okay so I have a question that has botherd me for several years now. I really enjoyed this podcast by the way, but something was mentioned in the middle of it that troubled me some. You were all speakiing about your relationship with God and how he speaks to us in different ways however when Patty mentioned she has actually heard God’s voice it was almost like it sent up a red flag within your discusion. I guess I am curios to know why we as modern day Christians are afraid to believe we have heard God’s voice “audibly”. Why is it we feel like it should come as a big booming voice from a burning bush? Jesus tells us” He is the good shepard and his sheep will know his voice.” Now I’m not sure but if a shepard were to go out and start talking to his sheep loudly it would probably scare the sheep half to death. Maybe you have guessed by now that I like Patty have heard the voice of God. I know that it was God because as you mentioned I can compare it to what God’s word says and it was in total allignment with it. His voice was not loud and booming but very direct and clear and kind. It was at those moments I was prompted to do one of two things, fall down and worship Him or do what I was told. Is it possible that so many of us have heard God speak but just didn’t give it the proper attention and credit He diserves for fear of sounding like a crazy person? Or is it because we failed to do what he asked us to do?

Kellie,
Great comment! I have heard God’s voice too, but it most often comes in the form of a whisper…a gentle nudge. I guess what surprised me most about Patty’s comment was that it was an actual audible voice. Maybe why it caught me by surprise is because so many people have used this to abuse spiritual power by claiming that they have an “in” with God. This was certainly NOT what patty was saying, but I’ve just seen it happen this way so many times, it always catches my ear whenever someone claims to have heard a direct audible voice…
