    Speaking of measuring people by their cars . . . when I worked at a book factory I met some girls and after asking my name and age (I was 20 at the time, I think) the first questions they asked me were “how many kids do you have” and “what kind of car do you drive.” It was really strange. It was a totally foreign way of knowing/assessing people to me. It was good for a laugh, though. They were really surprised that I didn’t have any kids, and I don’t think my Mercury Topaz impressed them too much.
